Importing Polar GPX and HRM files into Strava
I don't suppose I am the only Strava addict here. I recently been adding all my Polar GPX workouts to Strava. However this limited the information shown in Strava as HR and Cadence, to name just two, are not included in the GPX file.

However a tool discovered by TMiland on http://forum.polar.fi/showthread.php?t=22841]this thread , merges the data from the GPX file with the HRM files to create a TCX file. Upload teh TCX file to starva and now your HR and other information will be shown.

Found this site:-

Even better as it also converts my power readings and sorts out the time correction.

Just be aware this conversion site is a work in progress. My time data still isn't quite right but it's getting there.

Hi,

Didn't know that power could be implemented in the tcx format until a week ago, then I saw that it has to be added as an extension to the tcx file. Sorry it took a while!

Power is added and the time sync issue is fixed, together with some more improvements

I use the polar watch for running and I have the pedometer.

When I merge the files and converted to TCX the cadence is saved like is bike cadence not running cadence.

Great work, you should express this better on your web page as I did not realise you had changed this and it is a feature worth shouting about

On a side notw have you considered adding the temp? Garmin users have this now so assume it hides somewhere in the TCX?

RS800CX - Smartphone - Strave
How can I add ONLY the Hrm data to Strava?

I don't have a GPS sensor, only a smart phone with Strava and the inbuilt GPS in it to record the ride. And then I use my RS800CX with speed and cadence sensor.

How can I mix the two data points together in Strava or any other android program that might mix the Polar data with the GPS data?

Two ways. Get a hr monitor for your smart phone, Polar make a Bluetooth one, or get GPS on your bike computer.

Matching HRM and GPX files from different devices will never work unless they time stamps are synchronised exactly and this is nigh on impossible.

Hi,

there are meanwhile several applications and web services being able to merge HRM and GPX data in order to use it with all kind of other sports applications and portals.
You even would have to do it if you would buy the original Polar GPS sensor since the GPS data is stored within an extra file.

One of them is my own one:
JW HRM & GPX Tool

It is download- and useable for free at:

http://www.worldwidehome.de/dload/dlsoftw.htm

The application also allows making time adjustments if the two recording devices had a different time setup.

Cheers,
Jochen

Hi,
just got the feedback that the TCX export of the app has some compatibility issues with especially Strava. Will be fixed along with the next release.

Cheers,
Jochen
